Review requests · for remodelers and contractors: More Google reviews from every job you finish

Most happy customers mean to leave a review and never do. You ask in person at the final walkthrough. Booked follows up everyone who doesn't get to it: your photos and Google link the same day, a text at 12 hours, a personal email at 24 and a check‑in on day 7. Every review gets a reply drafted in your words.

After the jobExample

No review yet · a short text 12 hours
A personal email with the photos 24 hours

It stops the moment they leave a review.

01 · Why reviews matter

Reviews decide who gets the call

Homeowners read your reviews before they read your website. Google reads them too.

They help you show up

Google says "More reviews and positive ratings can help your business's local ranking."

Google Business Profile Help, checked 20 Oct 2026

Recent ones count most

74% of consumers look for reviews from the last 3 months. A pile of old reviews looks like a business that went quiet.

BrightLocal, 2026

They decide who gets the call

47% won't use a business with fewer than 20 reviews, and 68% only use businesses rated 4 stars or more.

BrightLocal, 2026

AI answers read them too

In a study of 1.9 million AI citations for local businesses, Google Business Profiles were 28.5% of all citations.

BrightLocal, August 2026

02 · How it works

You ask once. Booked follows up the rest.

The in‑person ask brings in most reviews. The follow‑ups catch the customers who meant to and forgot, kindly, without a single phone call.

  1. 1

    Before the first visit

    They know who is coming

Your visit confirmation says who's coming, with their photo. Trust starts before you knock.

  2. 2

    At the walkthrough

    You ask in person

When they see the finished room. A QR card on your phone opens your review box on their phone in one scan.

  3. 3

    The same day

    Photos and your link

A thank‑you from your business with photos of the finished job and your Google link. Every customer gets it.

  4. 4

    12 and 24 hours

    The ones who forget

A short text at 12 hours, in daytime hours. A personal email at 24 with the before and after photos. No office calls.

  5. 5

    Day 7

    "How is everything holding up?"

If something needs a look, you plan a visit. Then the link once more, and it stops.

  1. Starts whenYou mark the job finishedAfter the final walkthrough, one tap in the app
  2. A task for youAt the walkthrough: you ask in personYour Google link on a QR card on your phoneAsk when they see the finished room. A QR card on your phone opens your review box in one scan, on their own phone. Ask kindly, never pressure, and never suggest what to write.
  3. Text and emailSame day: thank you, photos and your linkText and emailA thank‑you from your business with photos of the finished job and a direct link to your Google review box. Every customer gets the same link: we never filter out unhappy ones.
  4. ChecksLeft a review?
YesDone: a reply drafted for you to approveNoKeep going, kindly
  5. Text12 hours: a short reminder textIn daytime hours onlyIf the job finished late, the text waits for the morning. Texts go only to customers who agreed to texts.
  6. Email24 hours: a personal emailYour before and after photos, and the link
  7. WaitWait until day 7
  8. TextDay 7: "How is everything holding up?"Anything to look at? Then the link once moreIf something needs a look, they reply and you get an alert to plan a visit. The review link goes to everyone either way: it never depends on their answer.
  9. AlertEvery new review: an alert and a drafted replyYou approve it in the appA low rating alerts you the same day, so you can call them and put it right before you reply in public.
  10. ResultThen it stops. No office calls, no pressure.
How it runs by default. The timing and the words are set with you on the kickoff call, and texts go only to people who agreed to them.

04 · Your review rate

One number tells you if the habit is working

Your review rate is the reviews you got this month divided by the jobs you finished. It's in your monthly report, next to every request, review and reply, so you can see the habit working, or see where it slipped.

Example month

9reviews÷24finished jobs=38%

Example numbers. Your report shows your own every month.

05 · Your team

We show your team how to ask

The ask works best from the person who built it. On the kickoff call we set it up with you, inside Google's rules.

Who asks

Whoever does the final walkthrough: you, your project manager or your lead carpenter. The customer trusts the person who built it.

How they ask

One line and a QR card on their phone. We make the card and walk your team through the ask on the kickoff call.

A team bonus that fits the rules

Reward the asking, logged in the app, not the number of reviews. Google's rules don't allow review targets for staff, and paying per review pushes people to pressure customers.

A simple way to ask

"We're really glad you love it. If you have a minute, would you leave us a Google review? This code opens it on your phone. It takes about a minute."

Ask, then let it go. No pressure, and no suggestions about what to write.

06 · Inside Google's rules

What we never do with your reviews

Reviews bought, filtered or faked can be removed, and they put the profile your phone rings from at risk. These are the lines we don't cross.

  • Ask only the happy customers. Everyone gets the same link.
  • Offer discounts, gifts or prize draws for reviews.
  • Write reviews, or tell customers what to say.
  • Post reviews from staff, family or friends.
  • Give your team review targets.
  • Pressure anyone on the spot, or take a review on your phone.

Google Maps user contributed content policy, read 20 Oct 2026. The US Federal Trade Commission's rule on consumer reviews (16 CFR 465), in force since 21 Oct 2024.

07 · Past customers

Years of happy clients who were never asked

In your first week we ask your past customers once, by email, and by text where they agreed. Then every new job gets the system above. How past customers are brought back

08 · When a review is bad

One bad review, handled well, wins the next job

  1. 1. You hear the same day

A low rating sends you an alert straight away, with the customer and the job.

  2. 2. You call first

Most problems are a visit away from fixed. Call, listen and put it right before anything goes in public.

  3. 3. Then a calm public reply

We draft it with you: what happened, what you did about it, no excuses. The next homeowner reads how you handle a problem.

Example public reply

Thank you for telling us, Linda. The grout should not have cracked within a month, and we're sorry it did. Mike is coming out Tuesday to redo it at no cost. We'd like the chance to make it right.

Example business. Every reply is drafted with you and posted only when you approve it.

Questions

Questions about review requests

Stop losing jobs

Can you guarantee a number of reviews?

No. A promised number pushes people toward rewarding or pressuring customers, which Google doesn't allow. We promise the system: every customer asked, the follow‑ups sent, every review answered, and your review rate in the monthly report.

Can my team get a bonus for reviews?

Reward the asking, not the reviews. Google's rules don't allow review targets for staff, and a bonus per review tends to turn a kind ask into pressure. A small bonus for asking every customer, logged in the app, keeps the habit going and keeps you inside the rules.

Do you only ask the happy customers?

No. That's called review gating, and Google's policy forbids it. Every customer gets your Google link. If someone tells us something is wrong, you get an alert so you can make it right, and they still get the link.

Can I offer a discount for a review?

No, and we won't send one. Google doesn't allow incentives for reviews, and reviews bought that way can be removed.

Can a customer leave the review on my phone?

No. It has to come from their own phone and their own Google account. The QR card opens your review box on their phone in one scan.

Won't the follow‑ups annoy people?

They stop the moment a review comes in. After the day itself there are three: a short text, a personal email with their photos, and a check‑in a week later. Texts go out in daytime hours, and nobody gets a phone call.

How does it know the job is finished?

You mark the job finished on the customer in the app after the walkthrough, one tap. The thank‑you and your link go out the same day.

Do I need a texting number?

Texts go from your business texting number, which we register with the carriers on day 1. Emails work from day one.
